The monthly Krishna Chaturthi fast to Ganesha, broken only after sighting the risen moon. Angarki (Tuesday) Sankashti is the most auspicious.
Sankashti, 'deliverance from difficulty', is Ganesha's monthly vrat on the Krishna paksha Chaturthi, anchored to moonrise: the fast runs from sunrise and is broken only after the moon is sighted, usually well after 9 pm. Each month invokes a different Ganesha form (Lambodara in Magha, Vakratunda in Kartika, the Karwa Chauth night...), and when the day is a Tuesday it becomes Angarki Sankashti, the year's most sought observance.
Because everything hinges on the moonrise, the city-wise moonrise time on this site's Sankashti list is the essential detail.
