Find the lunar day (tithi) for any date and place, at sunrise by default or at an exact time such as a birth moment.
Enter a date, a time and a city. A tithi is one thirtieth of the Moon’s lead over the Sun, so the answer depends on the exact moment and, through sunrise, on the place.

Why does the tithi end at the same moment in every city?
Because it ends when the Moon completes a 12-degree step, which is one moment worldwide. Only the clock reading changes with the time zone; what changes by city is the sunrise, and so which tithi rules the day.
Which tithi counts for a vrat?
Usually the one at sunrise (udaya tithi), with exceptions such as Ganesh Chaturthi (midday) and Diwali (pradosh). The festival pages apply each festival’s own rule.
What is a kshaya or vriddhi tithi?
A tithi that starts and ends between two sunrises is skipped (kshaya); one that spans two sunrises repeats (vriddhi). Both are normal because tithis vary in length.
